Before you jump to the conclusion that you have eczema, the first thing is to get the correct diagnosis. There are many skin rashes that look similar such as viral rashes, scabies, drug reactions to prescription meds and certain forms of fungus. Were you told for sure that your rash is eczema? If it runs in your family or there is a history of allergies then that can be a good indication it is dermatitis. However, it is possible you have a drug reaction instead.
Try to get dye-free and fragrance-free shampoos, soaps, detergents and other household items. You can also get allergy testing done to check on foods, dust mites and other common allergens. Some people have a difficulty with pet hair and also cannot wear certain types of jewelry without getting a rash. Cell phones too have nickel so be aware of this.
It's easy to get depressed when you have an eczema problem but careful study and changes in diet can be quite helpful for improvement. Remember that moisturizing is very therapeutic for eczema skin and that even if you have a steroid cream this is important to stop the cycle.
